In the beginning of the 90’s, hippies and liberal teachers arrived in a new campus build in the North Ghetto of Paris : Saint-Denis. Ethnologists, linguists and sociologists discover a new generation who are rapping, graffiti artists and BBoys in the streets of the poorest projects of the Hood. These crazy teachers will decide to open the doors of the public college for them and will take them as official academic teachers.

ABOUT THE FILMMAKER

PASCAL TESSAUD was born in Paris. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree, he studied literature and cinema at Paris X Nanterre University and documentaries at IECA Nancy University. He directed four short films : “Noctambules” (12’), “L’Ete de Noura” (18’), “Facies” (15’) and “City of Light” (30’) which have been screened during many international festivals. “City of Light” won the Best Short Film Award in New York, Warsaw, Toronto and Mexico and won the Colcoa Audience Award in Los Angeles. He also directed many famous documentaries: “Slam, Ce Qui Nous Brûle” (52’), “Mantes la Jolie sur le Mic” with Charles Aznavour (44’), “Saint-Denis” (52’), “Marseille” with Akhenaton (IAM) (52’) and “Beatbox, Boom Bap around the world” (55’). He wrote, directed and produced his first long feature film “Brooklyn”. The movie premiered in the independent ACID sidebar in Cannes, was shown at more than 80 festivals all around the world and won the Best foreigner feature film at Hip Hop Film Festival in 2017.
