ABOUT THE FILMMAKER

 

Lonnie Dixon comes from the Nakoda Sioux from the Stoney Nation and is a Dene from the Tsuu’Tina Nation and a Blackfoot from the Blackfoot Confederacy. Born in Calgary, AB He grew up on the Stoney nation where he still resides. Lonnie always had a passion for his community. When he isn’t firefighting, he volunteers his time to the Nakoda Youth Council, where they promote and encourage youth empowerment. Music has always been a strong influence on his life. He started listening to music to escape reality, to eventually writing lyrics and poetry to deal with reality.
